Institute of Chinese Medicine & Acupuncture uses Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) to restore balance in the body that has been disrupted due to illness. A state of equilibrium also exists in the body between the organs of the body and the external environment. The equilibrium is in constant self-adjustment which enables the maintenance of the physiological activities of the body. Disease develops as a result of the body's inability to adjust to a change in, or severe imbalance of, the state of equilibrium.
At the Institute of Chinese Medicine and Acupuncture we offer acupuncture, Chinese herbs, and nutritional and lifestyle guidance to treat your medical condition.
Acupuncture: Inserting fine metal needles to stimulate acupoints of the body. By applying various means of manipulation to the needle, the energy system of the body, its Yin and Yang can be balanced, thus resolving or relieving disease.
Acupuncture is effective in alleviating pain, such as back pain, sciatic pain, headache, chest pain and abdominal pain. Pain in these areas is discontinued almost immediately when the acupoint is needled. Acupuncture also increases the body’s resistance to disease. It stimulates the production of antibodies, which plays an important role in the immunodefensive mechanism of the body. Acupuncture regulates the function of the body as it restores any malfunction to normal physiological functioning.
Herbology: Dispensing and prescribing herbs based on traditional Chinese medical philosophy and practice. Herbs are formulated and prepared for each individual and are specific to your condition. At ICMA, we use powdered herbs that are ready to be consumed; no need to boil the herbs into tea.
Chinese Nutrition: Recommending a specific diet and lifestyle modifications based on Chinese medical philosophy.
